RADICAL COLLABORATIONS LEADING TO OTHERNESS
Radical innovations require experimental space and freedom. Estranged from the known, explore the unknown. Combine the learning and expertise into creativeness that evolves as the new otherness
Collaborations between the industry, institutions and creative individuals have been part of a long-standing tradition in Switzerland. The right constellation of collaborations is a pivotal factor to make an impact on culture, society, environment and economy, by making new design solutions truly accessible in the market.
The breakfast will be hosted at the Swiss Country Pavilion from Design Prize Switzerland where Laufen, the Swiss bathroom specialist will make a presentation of a collaborative project with the HGK Academy of Art and Design in Basel which focussed on Saphirkeramik. An expert jury, which included the renowned designers Konstantin Grcic and Toan Nguyen, honoured the best designs which will be presented in London as part of the London Design Fair.
The Design Prize Switzerland is an association and a private initiative which encourages design with the aim to foster the exchange, mediation and promotion of Swiss design across disciplines.
Out of 42 nominations, the 2015/16 international jury awarded prizes to a total of 12 outstanding products and projects, as well as to the designers, entrepreneurs and institutions behind them - including numerous smart solutions which demonstrate the innovative strength and quality of the Swiss design industry.
