Description
AIA UK’s 2021 Virtual Building Tour series continues! This is inspired by the exceptional projects which were recognised at the AIA UK 2020 Excellence in Design Awards. Join us as we take a closer look at Cork House by CSK Architects with the Bartlett UCL, a winner in the Professional and Sustainability - Small Project categories.
Cork House is the first building of its type, made using a radically simple new form of solid plant-based construction. More broadly, the project served as a vehicle to rethink the complexity of many typical forms of modern building envelope, with an emphasis on developing outstanding whole life performance in relation to environmental sustainability. The cork construction system used for Cork House was developed in its experimental stages by a research team including The Bartlett School of Architecture UCL, University of Bath and Arup, and part funded by Innovate UK and EPSRC.
The event will finish with an informal breakout discussion.
Registration is free, but spaces are limited. Please sign up today and join the session promptly.
